Throughout his exceptionally long and successful operational career, Squadron Leader Chandler has shown magnificent courage, determination and devotion to duty which have been worthy of the highest praise. He has nearly completed his fourth tour of operations and has participated in a very large number of attacks against heavily defended German targets. He has always remained undaunted despite the many hazards he has encountered, and has proved himself to be an outstandingly skilful and reliable navigator.
By his great coolness and operational zeal he has set a superb example to all members of his squadron.
