Mission Date: 29/08/1944
Mission Comments: 16 aircraft detailed for operation on STETTIN. All proceeded and returned. 402 Lancasters and 1 Mosquito of 1,3,6 and 8 Groups. 23 Lancasters lost, 5.7 per cent of the force. This was a sucessful raid, hitting parts of Stettin which had escaped the damage in previous attacks. A German report states that 1.569 houses and 32 Industrial premises were destroyed and that 565 houses and 23 industrial premises were badly damaged. A ship of 2,000 tons was sunk and 7 other ships (totalling 31,000 tons) were damaged. 1033 people were killed nad 1034 people injured.

Flare illumination was scattered and off A/P except for two sticks which were absolutely right. We identified visually. Our TI'sa fell very slightly west of aiming point. No other mixed Red and Greens seen but TI Red backed up our TI's/ TI Green seen cascading as we left target. Supporting was not very good and bombing generally was fairly good. 2 large explosions seen with red flames. One photo attempted.
