He married Barbara my mother

They were living in No 28 Married
Quarters, No.1 Squadron, 12 OTU. Benson. I have a letter dated May 9th

Joined 199 Squadron at RAF Lindholme but
moved to Blyton after a few days. There was a letter written from
Lindholme, saying that only one of his kitbags had arrived and he was
stuck with only his best blue to wear. He was hoping the other two would
arrive before moving to Blyton.
I think this may have completed his
first tour, as he then joined 27 OTU, and we know that he was
instructing Polish airmen for a while.
Joined 1656 CU. on 15th May
1943
Joined 460 Squadron on 14th
June 1943. Looking at the 460 Squadron web-site I think he did 11
missions with the same crew.
Joined 156 Squadron on 24th
September 1943 with three Australians from the 460 crew, P/O Gynther,
F/O Robertson, and P/O Raper.
With F/O Docherty, F/Sgt Lumsden, and
F.Sgt Murray in JB476 they failed to return from a raid on Berlin on 1st
January 1944.
They are buried in the same row in the
1939-45 War Cemetery, Charlottenburg, Berlin.
